I am presenting birds in a different manner. I am presenting women in a different manner. Combining women with birds in unexpected situations sets up a tension that is otherwise unforeseen. Without establishing a relationship between bird and women, an isolation exists that supports a strange mood. This isolation is heightened by graphic sensibilities.
An acrylic wash is brushed on BFK Reeves paper and after delineating imagery with a grease pencil, applied color pencil and soft pastel are rubbed into the wash. Repeated rubbings result in rich color while minimal rubbing accentuates the expressive wash. The result is a layered transparency....
