American Craft Museum
New York, NY, USA United States of America

In this exhibit, guest curator, Joyce Scott has assembled a remarkable body of work 25 hard working, innovative artists. Employing experimental as well as traditional techniques, and working in a richly diverse array of media, these artists move viewers beyond traditional frames of reference and challenge them to think in new ways about their definition of contemporary crafts or African -American art. Artists include Willis Bing Davis, Raymond Dobard, L’Merchie Frazier, Sana Musasama and Arthur Smith. Image: Arthur Smith, “Neckpiece” 1948, Forged brass Collection American Craft Museum, NY.
