This will be Liu Manwen s first solo exhibition at Red Gate, and she will arrive in Beijing today from Harbin for Saturday s opening. Born in Harbin, Heilongjiang province she graduated from Lu Xun Academy of Fine Art in 1982 and is currently a full-time painter in Heilongjiang Art Academy. She has participated in several exhibitions in China. Red Gate Gallery, established in 1991, specialises in contemporary Chinese art by 15 leading young artists from all over China. Works include oil paintings, mixed media and collage, lithography, engravings, silk-screen and woodblock prints, Chinese ink paintings, and both cast and carved sculpture.
