The Johannesburg Civic Gallery presents Magic Moments, an exhibition that explores different aspects of the feminine through the work of several artists. The work of these artists reveal a kaleidoscope of relationships between women and the material world, illness, man, G-d, war, sex and death.

Curated by artist Minette Vari, the exhibition is a departure from the very Eighties notion of theme shows. As such, Vari has invited male and female artists to participate. In the works chosen however, there is a definite emphasis on women's experience of a new era in history and her position in and relation to an ever-changing world.

Artists exhibiting include Italian artist Daniel Buetti, Swiss video artist Mo Diener, Noritoshi Hirakawa from Korea, Zimbabwe's Yvonne Vera and South Africans Tracey Rose, Jan van der Merwe & Kathryn Smith

The exhibition runs to coincide with South African National Women's Day, 9 August 2000
