"Thomas Roese, Paintings"
2001-01-06 until 2001-01-27
Ohio Art League
Columbus, OH, USA United States of America

The Ohio Art League is pleased to announce its January 2001 Member Curated Exhibition Thomas Roese, Paintings as curated by Mark Yasenchack. The photographic sharpness of detail in these cityscapes and landscapes-of-the-highway are oddly translucent over impressionistic loose under-paintings. A dynamic and rich visual experience is the result of an evolution from pointilistic ink drawings mimicking the grain of film; to the brash and chaotic energy of painting harnessed with an observant attention to detail. The composition of the paintings are rarely straightforward, but more often are narrow slices set at jarring angles and with unusual dimensions.

About the MCE’s: The Ohio Art League invites it’s 500+ artists to submit a short written proposal to the Exhbition Committee. Exhibitions can be thematic, retrospective or otherwise. A proposal includes and outline for an exhibition describing the idea, well thought out and presented with visuals. The proposals are reviewed by a committee of League members, and are selected based on the exhibition idea. Once a proposal is approved and scheduled the committee does not interfere with the integrity of the exhibition.

The Ohio Art League is a nonprofit member organization dedicated to the presentation and support of Ohio based artists. The gallery is located at 954 N. High Street in Columbus’ Short North. The gallery is open to the public every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 12 -5 pm. For more information please contact Linda Gall at 614-299-8225.
