"Chaos and Communication: Tenth Biennial of the Young Artists of Europe and the Mediterranean Opens Tomorrow"
2001-07-16 until 2001-07-25
Sarajevo Biennial
Sarajevo, , BA Bosnia and Herzegovina

Around 1000 artists will take part in the Sarajevo Biennial - a number similar to the one in Rome in 1999. Some of the artists will exhibit and perform their works in places significant for that kind of artistic expressions while others will present their installations on the banks of the Miljacka River.

Biennial disciplines - art subjects
The basic division of disciplines in the Biennals was set fifteen years ago. Today, however, significant changes have taken place deriving from the changes in the artistic expression itself. Interdisciplinarity, contamination, and interpenetration have come to represent key words in artistic expression. They have made the barriers between disciplines less and less noticeable. All this emphasizes importance of events such as the Biennial because their main task is to offer new stimuli to the young artists.

For Sarajevo 2001 we propose a division of disciplines in which traditional disciplines find their place although conceived as a separate sector of artwork.
