The Nikon Award this year has reached a new benchmark of excellence. Due to the exceptionally high standard of the entries for 2001, the number of finalists for the exhibition has been increased to twenty-six.

The ACP Workshop is a unique facility in Australia, offering classes in everything from basic camera craft to specialist courses such as fashion, portraiture, documentary and architectural photography.  The Workshop is also used by some of Sydneyís leading art, commercial and editorial photographers, creating a unique environment in which to learn. And, of course, the Workshop itself is situated within the leading centre for exhibition, education and publication of photography in the country.

One thousand people each year take classes at the ACP Workshop. Entry to the competition is open to any of these students and the selection criteria are based on the strength of the resulting image to communicate ideas and feelings.
