Geng Jianyi could be considered one of the key figures of contemporary Chinese art. He has 'created some of the most poetic and sensitive Chinese art over the last decade' (Leila Aitken).

Geng Jianyi was born in 1962 in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, China In 1985 he graduated from Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts, oil painting department. Jianyi now lives and works in Hangzhou. His work has been extensively exhibited in China as wells across Europe and the US.
