"A Passion for Renoir: Five Great Paintings from the Clark Art Institute"
2002-01-10 until 2002-02-24
High Museum
Atlanta, GA, USA

Of all the Impressionists, Pierre-Auguste Renoir was the artist most in love with the feel of paint. In his canvases he captured light in transparent layers of color. A Passion for Renoir brings Atlanta a rare opportunity to view five luminous paintings by this important Impressionist.

Renoir’s distinctive brushwork is particularly exquisite in his depictions of women, such as the elegant figures in At the Concert, a major work from Renoir’s early career. A Passion for Renoir represents a special collaboration between the High Museum of Art and the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute of Williamstown, Massachusetts.
