Indepth Arts News: "Wayne County - The Artists Among Us Exhibition" 2002-09-25 until 2002-10-16 Wayne County Council for Arts, History & Humanities Grosse Pointe, MI, USA United States of America
Secondly, Artists Among Us is an extraordinary ARTnership featuring
collaborations between visual artists, poets and musicians. Here's how it
works: top Wayne County poets and musicians will perform works inspired by
the juried artworks during each of the receptions. The schedule of
Receptions, which are free and open to the public, is listed below. Awards
in each category (visual arts, poetry, music) will include: Best of Show;
Award of Merit and 5 honorable Mentions. This exhibition is sponsored in
part by the Detroit Department of Cultural Affairs and the Michigan Council
for the Arts and Cultural Affairs.

ABOUT THE JURORS . . .
Dr. James Lentini (music) is Professor and Assistant Chair of the Department
of Music at Wayne State University (classical and jazz), has received the
Segovia International Composition Prize, a Meet the Composer grant from
ASCAP and has performed with national and international ensembles, including
Spain, Italy, Poland and Chile.
Robert Martin (visual art) is a Professor of Art and Art History at Wayne
State University, a photographer and print maker and teaches
interdisciplinary multi-media. His work is in collections nationwide.
