"Call to Artists: Accepting Submissions to Exhibit"

Open Studio, Canada's leading print media centre, is accepting submissions to exhibit in the Open Studio Gallery for the period between September 2003 and May 2004. Open Studio Gallery promotes and exhibits contemporary works by artists working in any print media and/or incorporating printmaking techniques into their work.  Proposals by individual artists, groups and curators will be considered.  CAR/FAC Artist Fees are paid.

SUBMISSIONS DEADLINE: March 3, 2003

TO APPLY: Submissions should include up to 12 slides of proposed work, detailed slide list, exhibition proposal/statement, a current curriculum vitae and a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the safe return of your slides.  Submissions should be sent to the attention of: The Gallery Committee, c/o OPEN STUDIO, 468 King Street West, 3rd Floor, Toronto, ON  M5V 1L8.

ELIGIBILITY: Work proposed must be print media based.  Please see full programming eligibility guidelines below or contact Heather Webb, Associate Director, at: heather@openstudio.on.ca or 416.504.8238.

EXHIBITION ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES Artists are eligible for one solo exhibition in the Open Studio Gallery every five years. Artists participating in group shows (of two or more artists), will be limited to a solo or another group exhibition once every three years in the Open Studio Gallery. In both cases, the following exceptions apply:  when an artist is subsequently selected as a Scholarship recipient; when an artist is subsequently selected as a Visiting Artist.

Scholarship and Visiting Artists must wait five years to exhibit in another solo exhibition, and must wait at least three years to exhibit in a group exhibition.

Board Members are not eligible to apply for an exhibition in the Open Studio Gallery during their term.
