"All or Part of the Weight: Works by Zerek Kempf and Jesse Hemminger"
2003-02-01 until 2003-02-22
Ohio Art League
Columbus, OH, USA United States of America

The Ohio Art League is pleased to announce its FEBRUARY 2003 Member Curated Exhibition, all or part of the weight, works by Zerek Kempf and Jesse Hemminger, curated by Zerek Kempf. Combining elements of video, robotics, and installation, Kempf and Hemminger create an environment dedicated to the awareness of “support.” Using conceptual and physical means to deliver various definitions of the word, each artist conveys his own interpretations of what support is and what it means to be supported.

Jesse deals with issues of interpersonal relationships. Creating a symbiotic relationship with Jesse’s work, Zerek focuses on the conditions of display and the dependency which occurs in the hierarchy of support that develops within the institutional setting. (Artists’ Statement)

About the MCE’s: The Ohio Art League invites it’s 800+ artists to submit a short written proposal to the Exhibition Committee. Exhibitions can be thematic, retrospective or otherwise. A proposal includes an outline for an exhibition describing the idea, well thought out and presented with visuals. The proposals are reviewed by a committee of League members, and are selected based on the exhibition idea. Once a proposal is approved and scheduled the committee does not interfere with the integrity of the exhibition.

The Ohio Art League is a nonprofit member organization dedicated to the presentation and support of Ohio based artists. The gallery is located at 954 N. High Street in Columbus’ Short North. The gallery is open to the public every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 12 -5 pm. For more information please contact Ellen Grevey at 614-299-8225.

The Ohio Arts Council helped fund this program with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.
