"Call for Artists: Relationship Between Landscape and Art Disciplines, Paleochora"

A few weeks ago the organizers visited Crete to examine possible new sites. They came to the conclusion that the original location, where they have held their creative encounters for the last 6 years, is still the best option. This is the area around the Asilikias Mountain in Montziana, southwest Crete, 15 km north of Paleochora. The seventh encounter will take place from Saturday, August 23 to Thursday, August 28, 2003. The theme for the encounter revolves around the examining and reflecting on the relationship between the landscape and participants’ particular artistic discipline.

Those invited to participate are architects, painters, sculptors, land art creators, writers, poets, musicians, philosophers, art critics and anyone else interested.

Programme:

Saturday 23.08: Meet at 10.00 hrs in the Elman Hotel in Paleochora to start on the first reconnaissance trip.
Sunday 24.08: Reflection, ideas and suggestions in situ at the chosen location.

Monday 25.08 onwards: Purchase of materials and execution of the project, interspersed with encounters, trips and other activities according to the participants’ interests.

Thursday 28.08: Final day, with photos and film of the project, conclusions and farewell party in the evening.
