"Tina Stallard: Happy Birthday"

London's East End locals born between 3 and 13 July are the subject of the launch exhibition by Tina Stallard, of the £2m oh!art centre, Bethnal Green.  Coinciding with ten days of celebratory performances, talks and events, the photographic exhibition marks the birth of the Centre and the birthdays of its audience.

Photographer Tina Stallard was commissioned by oh!art working with Vital Arts at The Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel, to take photographs of babies born on the Labour Wards of the Hospiital in the launch week of oh!art Centre, 3-13 July 2003.   Other East Enders whose birthday falls between 3 and 13  July and were born in each of the 11 decades that Oxford House has been working with the local community, were invited to a party at oh!art where they were photographed by Tina Stallard. The resulting images will be exhibited in the brand new gallery at oh!art as a major part of the Centre’s launch events.
