"Call for Artists: International Artist-in Residence Program"
2003-07-30 until 2003-08-30
Raid Projects
Los Angeles, CA, USA United States of America

Raid Projects is currently looking for applications for our International Artist-in Residence Program. The next available slot starts in December 2003 and we are booking now for all of 2004. The residency is for 3-6 months. This residency is available to artists who live and work outside of the USA and for US artists outside of LA in special circumstances (eg. if the proposal is particularly relevant to this city).

The applications must include a resume/cv, images of work and a statement of purpose - why the residency is important to do in LA rather than elsewhere. This should direct attention towards a body of work that the artist will develop during their stay which responds to actually being here, in some way. All genres will be considered, including writers and critics.

The residency provides a working studio and a separate bedroom. An exhibition of the work produced during the residency will be presented to the public during the final month of the residency. This last month is seen as an opportunity to meet with LA gallerists and invite them to do studio visits, see the show and discuss future co-operation and potential exhibitions, as well as to network with other artists and critics.

The cost of the residency is $800 per month ($1000 per month if 2 artists are collaborating or a couple wish to apply), which includes the spaces, the final show costs and any gallery overheads. We will work in conjunction with the artist to help facilitate applications for funding. All flight, shipping, living and material costs are the responsibility of the artist.

Any interested parties can contact Max Presneill at the gallery for more information.
