"Clone: Luca Curci, Richard Journo, Fabiana Roscioli and Jan Simon"
2004-06-18 until 2004-07-08
Culture Institute of Poland
Rome, , IT Italy

CLONE is an international project about the controversial theme of cloning that will take place in Rome starting 18th June 2004. Four artists - Luca Curci, Richard Journo, Fabiana Roscioli and Jan Simon - present 16 identical works in four galleries. Each artist shows his/her original work and 3 works based on the re-elaboration of the other artists work. The 16 works are then ‘cloned’ to be shown in 4 galleries.

The artists duplicating an entire exhibition, put in question the serialising process in the contemporary art. By doing so they reflect on one hand on the uniformity to which consumer goods are subjected in order to be distributed on a global market and on the other the impact that the global consumerism has on human beings, reducing them to flattened and homogeneous personalities. In this perspective the Clone project aims at stimulating a debate between art and science, the private sphere and the public control.
