"Contemporary Abstracts: George C. Roush II"
2004-12-03 until 2005-01-31
E. Gordon Gallery
Cleveland, , USA United States of America

The e.gordon gallery presents Contemporary Abstracts by George C. Roush II through the end of January. "Painting is a unique enterprise. It has no practical function, nor is it a particularly good story telling vehicle. It's easier to make a painting than it is to describe what it means. I feel the meaning of a painting relates closely to how it is painted rather than to what is painted or what one might think the work means." - George C. Roush II

"As far as "Style of Painting", I ascribe my work to the "Anti-Style" school. I find my ideas for a particular work from subconscious messages that tend to work their way to the surface. I translate this mental driftwood in the manner in which it presents itself, this method enables me to be as honest as possible about translation and execution.

"I want to present the observer with code that they can translate into their own inner language, a language that is not exclusive to a particular time or place. My ultimate goal is to enable the observer to have an intimate experience with my work, and enjoy it." From the Artist's Statement.
