"Call for Artists: Call for Women’s Art"
2005-04-29 until 2005-08-15
Woman Made Gallery
Chicago, IL, USA United States of America

Woman Made Gallery is celebrating the grand opening of our Artisan Gallery. WMG's new venue is an alternative to the gallery's juried thematic exhibitions, offering expanded exhibiting, marketing and selling opportunities to women artists and artisans whose body of work is primarily functional and/or decorative, or is unconcerned with pursuing content or a narrative.

We are looking for fine crafts in all media and forms except clothing: glass, clay, wood, fiber, mixed-media, metals and jewelry, paper (no drawing or painting) for a series of exhibitions.

The exhibition time and length will coincide with the Woman Made galleries schedule which changes every 4 to 5 weeks. There will be a Featured Artist section with each exhibition. An artist will be asked to submit a small body of work for display and she will be featured on the Woman Made website. We will also consider thematic ideas appropriate to craft media, possibly to coincide with the current Woman Made gallery exhibit theme; or explorations into materials or techniques.

We are reviewing work for the following exhibitions:

May 20 – June 16th 2005 Works in Clay Deadline: May 6th
June 24 – July 21 2005 Open theme all craft media. Submission Deadline: June 3rd
July 29 – August 26 2005 Open theme all craft media. Submission Deadline: July 1st
September 2 – 29 2005 The Nature of Paper. Works of paper, crafts that are decorative and / or functional. Submission Deadline: August 15th.

Woman Made Gallery is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that was established to work for the equal placement of women's art in the world. Woman Made Gallery supports and cultivates the diverse contributions of women artists through exhibitions, educational programs and community outreach. We believe that such contributions are an essential component in the spectrum of cultural expression.
