"Barry Mack: Solo Exhibition of Paintings"
2006-10-01 until 2006-10-31
Lawrence Gallery Salishan
Gleneden Beach, OR, USA United States of America

“It is a pleasure to feature Barry Mack in our gallery,” said Lawrence Gallery Salishan's owner Gary Lawrence. “His work is inspirational, and we are proud to share it with the Oregon community.” “Barry Mack's work is beautiful, and artistically accomplished, all at the same time. It's a real challenge, I've found, to convey concepts and emotions of a higher nature and have the work remain strong and unsentimental. He has succeeded!”, states Astrid Fitzgerald.

Barry began painting around the age of 11 and has continued to develop for over 30 years. Beginning with self-taught photo-realistic drawings and copying paintings of the old masters, his work progressed through a wide range of mediums and styles, eventually maturing into a form of abstraction. Barry’s unique style contains basic elements for the viewer to respond to with a sense of freedom and mystery.

After studying in New York with Damian Fedele, an artist best known for his bronze sculptures for Donald Trump, Barry’s formal art education continued at Marylhurst and Portland State University. During his years of studying fine art, Barry supported himself as a craftsman in the graphic arts industry and has worked with some of Oregon’s leading companies, producing award winning graphics for many of the world’s largest corporations.

Barry's work has been shown in east coast, Midwest and Northwest galleries as well as Nike World Headquarters, The Palace of Fine Art in San Francisco, and recently a group show in Australia. And as a result of Internet exposure Barry’s work has been appreciated and collected by individuals from Uruguay to Italy.

His work has been published in several national magazines and won first place in the international Digital Fine Art competition in 1998. Corporate collections include the Graduate School of Education at Portland State University and the Beverly Hall Corporation.
