Abilities Art Festival
Toronto, ON, CA Canada

Abilities Arts Festival is proud to announce its Call for Photographic Entries for the 2007 International Juried Photographic Exhibition by artists with disabilities titled “Exposed”. This exciting exhibition will be an integral part of Abilities Arts Festival’s week long, international multidisciplinary arts celebration that includes the visual and performing arts, film, a children’s program and workshops and panels. It will be held in Toronto, Canada, October 25 – November 1, 2007. Abilities Arts Festival showcases artistic excellence and the talent, artistic vision, passion and creativity of artists with disabilities. Using the power of art both as a unifying and as a transforming media, the Festival seeks to engage people in the arts, while facilitating diversity, inclusiveness and participation by people with and without disabilities.

“EXPOSED” will present varying interpretations and representations of images depicted by photographic artists with disabilities. Images of joy, sorrow, triumph, contemplation, defiance, wonder and/or other interpretations of life’s dramas and complexities will be welcomed for consideration to this distinctive exhibition which will run from October 25 until November 25, 2007 at the Joseph D. Carrier Gallery, Toronto, Canada. The Joseph D. Carrier Gallery, which welcomes over 20,000 visitors annually and is the third largest public gallery in Toronto, is a wonderful space that reflects the standard of excellence which Abilities Arts Festival strives to maintain. “Exposed” will be juried by well-known Gallery owner, curator and photographer Stephen Bulger, Toronto artist, arts commentator and curator Flavio Belli and photographer, lecturer, and digital photography teacher, Syd Streicher.

We are seeking photographs that exemplify excellence, innovation and creativity. Works that provoke and enlighten; that are innovative and daring. Works that push the envelop, stir the soul and leave an indelible mark in the mind’s eye of the viewers. Images which reflect diverse perspectives to the subject “Exposed”.

Full submission details, entry rules and conditions, as well as the required entry form are available at www.abilitiesartsfestival.org. Submission deadline is May 1, 2007.
