Indepth Arts News: "Cecil Herring : Florida Landscapes and Florals for the Easter Season" 2009-04-01 until 2009-04-30 DeBary Hall DeBary, FL, USA United States of America
Over 100 years ago the only means of transportation was up and down the St. John's river. It is a delightful tour with photographs of the old riverboats. It is a Volusia Echo Project, maintained by Volusia County, paid with your tax dollars, so it is a carefully researched historic site.
"St. John's Cabbage Palm" oil on linen canvas, 22" x 28" (see image) was painted in plein air at a river site nearby. All of Cecil Herring's paintings on display were created around the river area and will be on easels throughout the Mansion downstairs.
Volusia Echo Project has restored the Mansion into a wonderful view of life as it was in Florida in 1876.
