Wallspace Gallery in Ottawa presents "The Burn, works by Jane Fulton Alt" from May 8 through May 29, 2009. The Burn series evolved from Jane Fulton Alt's ongoing interest in life cycles. For the past two years the artist has accompanied restoration ecologists of the Lake Forest Open Lands Association on their prescribed burns in nature preserves and prairies. Jane Fulton Alt has been a Premiere Portfolio Member at absolutearts.com since 2005.

Jane Fulton Alt comments, "These controlled burns imitate naturally occurring fires by removing accumulated dead vegetation and releasing seeds from dormancy. By opening the woodlands to more sunlight, the fires prepare the soil for new spring growth, and the cycle of renewal continues."
