EDGE Gallery is pleased to announce the solo exhibition "New Fable" of the Chinese contemporary young artist Yan Ren Kui. "Fable" in the field of literature is a kind of short stories which contains ironic, advisory or moral lessons. It is the ancient awareness of nature, society recognition, and the recognition of reflection of things. Ancient Chinese Fables, having a long history and  brilliant score, is having an extremely important position in the parable of literary treasure of the world. In ancient Chinese Fables, a majority of the subjects were taken in the social, political, historical and military aspects. It also has a strong political flavor, rich historical and cultural connotation.

Traditional fables are in single language, and today, in my work series , it is a group of highly contemporary works. My work has no direct expression of a particular story, but in some funny, absurd, ridiculous, and abnormal behavior action, a specific response to the inner fear of the human minds and the heart of greed. The surface of the depths are so difficult to imagine that every day of what he saw and heard is true or otherwise has blur the people's hearts. The only way to create the truest and most valuable works of art is to see the reality behind the story.

Artist Biography

Yan Renkui, male, born in ZhaoTong of YunNan province in 1979. Now,  a professional artist. Yan Renkui’s major exhibitions and activities includes, 2003 China’s third oil painting exhibition, 2004, The Chinese National Art Exhibition, YunNan solo painting exhibition "Replication of memory", 2007 YunNan nominations for young artists exhibition, 2007 image of pleasure, invited by the YunNan Art Association – paint in the country side arts activities, 2008 Ma Yuan cooperatives artists exhibition at the scene, "bound" Red Club Art Exhibition, "Body Anxiety" Yan Ren Kui and ZHANG Xing-Wang group exhibition.
