In Daniele Lemieux's first solo show in Edmonton at Agnes Bugera Gallery, is aptly titled "Sotto Voce", or quiet voice. Lemieux exhibits work that is uncluttered and quietly contemplative. Her trademark choice of simple subject matter is executed using a deceptively complex choreography of light, colour and shape. This aesthetic results in canvases that are often described as both dramatic and poetic. Using a combination of contemporary realism and the painterly traditions of the grand masters, her constant theme is one that honours the everyday experience. Daniele Lemieux graduated from Dawson College in 1979 with a degree in graphic design and was a respected art director and commercial illustrator for 20 years. She kept her first love for fine art alive by continuing her studies for many years at the Visual Art Centre in Westmount, Quebec, carving out time to paint between commercial assignments. For the past 10 years she has devoted herself to painting full time.

This show will feature over 20 new works in oil on canvas.
