*BAK, basis voor actuele kunst* kondigt met genoegen het *1ste FORMER 
WEST Congres* aan, dat plaats vindt in Utrecht van 5 tot 7 november 
2009. Het Congres brengt een aantal van de meest invloedrijke curatoren, 
kunstenaars, theoretici en denkers van de afgelopen twee decennia op het 
terrein van de kunsten bij elkaar en is het eerste grote publieke 
programma van het langlopende, internationale onderzoeks-, educatie-, 
publicatie-, en tentoonstellingsproject FORMER WEST (2008-2013).

Vanwege de enorme interesse en een beperkt aantal zitplaatsen is het 
Congres al volgeboekt en moeten we helaas melden dat aanmelding op dit 
moment niet langer mogelijk is. Op de nieuwe FORMER WEST website 
www.formerwest.org  is het mogelijk het 
Congres te volgen via een *live uitzending*. Kijk op de website voor een 
gedetailleerd programma.

Op 8 november van 16.00–19.00 uur zal een *finissage* ter afsluiting van 
de FORMER WEST onderzoekstentoonstelling /Surplus Value/ van Mona 
Va(ta(manu en Florin Tudor (op dit moment te zien bij BAK) plaats 
vinden. De finissage wordt georganiseerd in het kader van Culturele 
Zondagen, Utrecht (www.culturelezondagen.nl 
).

*BAK, basis voor actuele kunst* is pleased to announce the *1st FORMER 
WEST Congress*, which takes place in Utrecht from 5 to 7 November 2009. 
The Congress gathers some of the most influential curators, artists, 
theorists, and thinkers of the past two decades from the field of art 
and is the first major public program of the long-term international 
research, education, publishing, and exhibition project FORMER WEST 
(2008–2013).

Due to overwhelming interest and limited seating capacity, the Congress 
is now fully booked and we regret that registration at this stage is no 
longer possible. However, the new FORMER WEST website hosts a *live 
streaming* of the Congress at www.formerwest.org

On 8 November from 16.00–19.00 hrs a *finissage* takes place at the 
conclusion of the FORMER WEST research exhibition /Surplus Value/ by 
Mona Va(ta(manu and Florin Tudor (currently on view at BAK). The 
finissage is organized within the framework of Cultural Sundays, Utrecht 
(www.culturelezondagen.nl ).
