ARTIST TALK: Sonia Boyce
Thursday 26 November, 7-9pm
Artist and member of the Remembering Olive Collective Sonia Boyce will present her project Devotional - a celebration of Black female singers in British entertainment.
PANEL DISCUSSION: Reconsidering Urban Landscape
Wednesday 2 December, 7-9pm
Gasworks residency artist Allard van Hoorn will host a panel discussion on how art in the public space can provoke a new experience of the urban landscape. He will be joined in conversation by artists Jose-Arnaud Bello, Shezad Dawood, Theo Lorenz and Richard Wentworth.
DISCUSSION: Documenting Migration

An event looking at the ways in which records of immigration are kept and used by official bodies and by migrants themselves, and their importance in framing public opinion and policy.
SCREENING: Signs of Empire

(1984) Dir. Black Audio Film Collective, 44 min
An investigation into colonial fantasy as well as into the historical conditions that informed contemporary racial, economic and diasporic life in Britain. A montage of texts and images is employed to deconstruct official historical narratives and archival photographs, while the soundtrack combines musique concrete with tape loops of political speech.
