"TOPPING OUT" CEREMONY AT THE NEW UICA
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., December 15, 2009 – On December 17 at 2PM, The Gallery on Fulton will hold a “Topping Out” ceremony to celebrate the completion of the building structure. This event, which will feature the ceremonial lighting of a Christmas tree, is a tradition celebrated throughout the building construction industry and marks a milestone in the timeline of the project. The ceremony will take place at Veterans’ Memorial Park:
101 E. Fulton, NE (northeast corner of Fulton and Sheldon).
Event participants include:

• Sam Cummings, CWD, project co-developer
• Mitch Watt, Triangle Associates, project construction manager
• Jeff Meeuwsen, UICA, project anchor tenant.
The Gallery is a 12- story, $34 million, 209,000-square-foot, mixed used development that will offer commercial and residential market rate apartment spaces. The Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts is the anchor tenant for the project, and a high-rise tower within the development will feature 56 units ranging from studios to three bedroom apartments. There will also be 2,700-square-feet of retail space on the first floor in addition to an integrated 256- space parking deck that will be owned by the City of Grand Rapids.
The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2010.
