Greetings!
One year ago we set out to make 2009 memorable
for En Foco, as we celebrated its 35th anniversary and the many
talented and tenacious artists who have been part of our rich history. We are
proud to say that the year has been filled with many notable accomplishments,
some of which include:
- Publishing 24 artists in Nueva Luz, along with an Artist Talk,
and a booth at PhotoPlus Expo, exposing our artists to 25,000 attendees;
-
Awarding fellowships and exhibition support
to 7 emerging artists through the New Works program;
-
Bringing our Touring Gallery program to new heights,
as Rojelio Reyes Rodriguez exhibits his work at PhotoPlus Expo in NYC and Imaging USA expo in
Nashville, TN;
-
Launching our first international photography
competition with Canson Infinity, which received over 215 submissions from photographers of all ethnicities
across the globe;
-
Receiving two Ippies Awards for Best Photo Essay (1st Place Rania Matar, 2nd Place Chuy Benitez), and a third consecutive nomination for the
Lucie Awards' Photography Magazine of the
Year;
-
Receiving a $60,000 matching grant from
the National Endowment for the Arts to mount a traveling exhibition of works
from En Foco's extensive Permanent Collection!
|
|
Building on these accomplishments and the deep
history of En Foco, we know that the years ahead of us promise to bring even
more impact and inspiration to the many artists and communities that we serve.
We would love for you to be
a part of this journey with us. That is why we have restructured our membership
program to allow new ways for you to become part of the En Foco familia. Whether you are a professional
photographer or a patron committed to nurturing contemporary photographers of
diverse cultures, our new membership program provides an array of opportunities
to connect with our artists and their work.
|
Memberships start at just $50 and include both
fabulous and functional benefits that you can enjoy throughout the year, such
as special rates for En Foco's workshops and Print Collectors Program,
discounts to local photography suppliers/services, and special invitations to
artists receptions and private events.
As a special way of
introducing our new membership program, all new or former members who join or renew at
the $100 level and higher will receive a complimentary En Foco Tote Bag (a $20
value). And if you make a membership gift by December 31, 2009,
you'll also receive a complimentary invitation to a special Member's reception this Spring with artists featured in Nueva Luz.
In addition to
receiving these benefits, your membership contribution will provide critical
support for our new and ongoing programs, including the launch of our Permanent
Collection traveling exhibition at the Bronx Museum of the Arts.
