This landmark exhibit is presented by Plaza de la Raza Cultural Center for the Arts & Education in conjunction with their 40th Year Anniversary. The ten-week retrospective at Plaza de la Raza’s Boathouse Gallery runs May 15 – July 31, 2010. The opening public reception is Saturday, May 15 from 2:00 p.m – 6:00 p.m.
"We are excited and pleased to host this exhibit of an important artist who has given so much to the community over the years. She is a role model and unsung heroine in many respects." said Rose Cano, Executive Director of Plaza de la Raza.
Curator Betty Ann Brown, a Professor of Art History at California State University Northridge writes, "Beautiful and difficult, poetic and troubling, seductive and confronting, Linda Vallejo’s artworks function as powerful gifts…Vallejo’s oeuvre is remarkably diverse. Beginning her art career with training as a printmaker, she soon transgressed the traditional limits of that medium..."
