Shot Up North is proud to announce SUN-MOTION...sun motion the competition for photographers making movies on stills cameras. The converging media of photography and video has opened up new possibilities for photographers, giving artistic control over many more aspects of a commission and creating more opportunities for work. SUN MOTION is Shot Up North's competitive showcase for stills photographers using stills cameras to make movies in a professional context. Call for Entries deadline 6 September.

Commissioned & Non-commissioned movies between 30" - 5'00" length, shot on a stills camera (eg. Canon 5D MkII)

Who it's for...

- Stills Photographers using stills cameras to make movies.
- Accepted areas of photographic practice are advertising, design, editorial or fashion.
- You must be working as a stills photographer, based in the northern regions, from the Midlands to the Scottish Isles.

Submissions:

* Movies should be between 30 seconds to 5 minutes in length.
* They may be commissioned or non-commissioned.
* The movie should be entirely the result of the concept, direction and editing decisions of the photographer.
* Submission is via our Online Form & Payment - movies should be sent on CD/DVD.

Submission dates: till 6th September 2010 (entry form ceases to be available on 7 Sept)

Selection:

* Our invited curator(s) will select those movies which in their opinion best deserve to be in the showcase.
* One winner will be selected as SUN MOTION movie of the Year.

Presentation:

All selected works will appear in a special Shot Up North online showcase. Successful entries will be shown at the SUN 22 Premier Night in Leeds.(provisionally October)

- You may enter as many movies as you like.
- Entry fee £25.00 per movie
- The movie should be the result of the photographer's concept, direction and editing decisions.
- Movie should be shot entirely using the video capability of stills cameras (such as Canon 5D MkII).
- The movies are judged anonymously - therefore NO CREDITS should appear in your film.
- Movies may be in .MOV, .MP4, .AVI (do NOT supply in DVD format)
