The Art of Summer Exhibition at OCCCA

Santa Monica Exhibition

OCCCA, Orange County Center for Contemporary Art presents:
Santa Monica
The Art of Summer
 September 4-25, 2010
 Curated by Jeffrey Crussell

Opening Reception Saturday, September 4, 2010 6-10PM

The 50 pieces of art exhibited at OCCCA in Santa Monica - The Art of Summer, is from a compilation of work derived from a project developed by Crussell Fine Arts as a democratic means in search of art for Bloomingdales new store in Santa Monica, California. Close to 1,100 pieces of art from some 400 artists living or working throughout Southern California were presented to Bloomingdales for review. The search was open to any and all artists no matter their experience or representation. The artist's identities were concealed during the process until Bloomingdale's made their final selections to purchase work for their new Santa Monica stores permanent collection.

Please help out with our CAN drive!

A CAN of Food = A Small Unit of Caring Nourishment, a Package and a Transportable Gift to a hungry person. We are surrounded by hunger and none of us know how to begin the process of relief. As part of the "Santa Monica - The Art of Summer"

show curated by Jeffrey Crussell, Executive Director of Crussell Fine Arts along with the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art (OCCCA) we will building a CAN-Castle together as a community outreach project. With your help and support our creative artists will work on playful creations that will then be turned over to our local Orange County food banks. The CAN-Castle is a simple idea that we hope will build into something that will inspire all of us to work together on solutions in supporting our hungry.

Please help with donations of cans or money to buy cans. All contributions over 100 cans or $100 will be listed on our Crussell Fine Arts and OCCCA websites and given non-profit tax deduction letters.
