Dennis Jones's Premiere Artist Portfolio
Welcome to Dennis Jones's Portfolio. Language is essential; my ideas originate in an intimate dialogue that I have with my work as I’m working. I find that I’m pulled to relationships of the incidental, awkward, and contingent; I'm fascinated with incompleteness and effortlessness as these traits unmask an object and encourage dialogue. The materials that I choose to work with have modesty and economy; a straightforward, unembellished quality. This “stuff” that I cobble together comes from years of accumulation that occupies considerable presence in my garage and studio - I just might be a hoarder, or I could easily open a small scrap yard – all these discarded materials possess potential for me. I recycle these remnants and put them together to form things that are peculiar and new.
I believe that Painting is about desire, which exists in an inherent magnetism between an image and object. Painting is a synthesis of the imagination and reality, the unknowable and the known, and in the mind of the viewer, these separate trajectories intersect thereby closing a gap, and thought congeals.
