Artist Statement:
I am primarily a plein-air painter and I prefer to use impressionistic technique while painting outdoors. I widely use brush strokes and scumbling of paint with a palette knife and has been largely influenced by the Cape Cod School of Art, Provincetown, Massachusets.
I have studied with its director, Lois Griffel and consider her my mentor.
Before starting to paint, I pick out colors I see and define a color palette for a scene. I aim to to catch the rapidly changing light in nature by means of value and color.
Color is not only what I see, but also how I feel about a subject of my painting. The choice of colors depends on my mood and feelings. ...
