Nabeel Muaddi's Artist Portfolio
Welcome to Nabeel Muaddi's Portfolio. I am an Arab-American, a Palestinian Christian, the eldest son of two refugees, and an artist.
Grappling with the issue of identity since childhood, I have sought to express my fascination – and oftentimes dissatisfaction – with the boundaries and categorizations established by culture and society, as well as the role that I play in maintaining and deconstructing the injustices that prevail therein.
Using art as a weapon, I challenge and resist preconceived notions of race, sex, community, government, and god – holding no aspect of my cultures too sacred to examine. It is only through this method of introspection, exploration, honest critique, and raw portrayal of emotion, that I am able to stand firm in my belief that art matters.
Utilizing a wide variety of mediums and fusing multiple schools of visual art – including oil painting, illustration, graphic design, photography, and urban graffiti – I aim to consistently break molds, shatter conceptions, and redefine the parameters of my craft.
Schooled in the history and practice of fine arts and featured in both mainstream and underground galleries and exhibitions, I continue to experiment with the creation of art that I believe has the power to invoke critical free thought – or, at the very ... |
