The Artist and Merchants , oil on canvas142cm x 106,6cmThis painting represent the complicated, contradictory relationships between the artist and merchandisers.
The Artist in my painting represent a Prophesier, foreteller, anticipator, sensor who is able to see the events that ordinary people not able to see in their everyday busy personal life or in our society. That is why The Artist symbolically holding in his hand the telescope to help him to see the things more scrupulous, closer than anybody elseto be able analyse, conclude, created on a canvas and finally represented to the Merchandisers. I called the Artist a Prophesier, but the Prophecy does not set out to be prophetic in the conventional sense it does not set out to predict the future. Rather, according to Paleyin Drrbecker , the function of the prophetic form isto expose the otherwise hidden motives and consequences of human decisions. As Drrbecker explainsit is apropheticmode of historical representation as interpretationwherethe history of the immediate past is recounted as an exemplum with a view towards the future .
So, who is the MerchandisersThere are ordinary people in our everyday life. They could be strangers, passer-byers, trouble makers, simple members of the audience, professionals and amateurs, dreamers and people who looking only for profit or the art lovers-they all more or less collaborating with Artist and his creations, has a different reactions, opinions, suggestions. You could compare them with the chess game-the relationships between the MerchandisersAnd Artist depends on the roles of chessmen, level of his significance, connections in a society and self-importance which reflect on results of the dialog between two of them.
