Artwork Description:
Series 24 - Not Warhol - I owe my style primarily to four artists: Warhol, Picasso, Pollock, and Van Gogh. Andy Warhol was the most influential in my work. I wanted to take his concept further, deeper, to create something of my own. This is in tribute/mockery of Andy Warhols work. As you can see the shapes of each image are all different and I used the back as well as the front of a not so iconic brand of chili instead of a popular brand of canned good. My colors are vivid and have a touch of soul. One of the pieces has an image of Warhol himself with the words TV Hotel. This represents the Pop Culture in our society that Warhol helped create. If you look closely, you can see a touch of Warhol in each image... yet in the end, it is not a Warhol, nor was it ever intended to be.
