After a successful career in advertising, Abbey Onikoyi has transformed his vision to creating paintings that captures the individual spirit, the special moment or the characteristic forces that can make us feel as well as see the intimate look of African culture and society.
A descendent of Nigerian royalty, Abbey was raised in Lagos. He came to the United States as a young man, received his U.S. citizenship in 1989 and has lived in Los Osos since 2002. His studio in the SLO Creamery is called 'Spirits of Africa Gallery'. This is where his work makes eloquent statements without words.
