Artist Statement:
Abstract painting, similar to
abstractions like music and
geometry, explores the
fundamental principles that
underlie the surface
appearance of things. Paint
layering and shape adjustment
are devices used by painters
to compose and to imply a more
meaningful inner world in
their abstract works. These
methods of painting are
usually executed in oil or in
other opaque mediums. The
theme is the journey. Becoming
tells its own story. It
reveals the aspirations and
paths explored. Abstract
painting is a technique that
invites all to share in this
process.
My paintings utilized the same
attitudes. I feel the work
deserves a rich viscous
language if it is going to
successfully synthesis my
goals.
