| Your Personal Biography |
I was born, I live and work in southeastern Belarus, in a unique, ancient town of Mozyr. I graduated from Arts School in Minsk (capital of Belarus) and subsequently took master classes from one of the oldest and prominent artists of Belarus, Vladimir Mineiko, who taught me classical skills of portraiting based on the legacy of pre-revolutionary Russian school of Peredvizhniki artists. I strongly rely on Mother Nature as my best teacher and build all of my works on perfect drawing as the base for artistic excellence. I also invite you to visit my website where I share my works ranging from oil paintings on birch bark to icons, portraits and mystically inspired pictures. My first painting on birch bark dates back to as early as 2000. Each image is embodiment of my dreams inspired by the tranquil, charming and soothing nature and lovely churches of my native land known as Polesye, or Woodland, which is so dear to my heart that whenever I am away from home I always look forward to coming back as soon as I possibly can to find myself where I do belong. I use oil paints on birch bark, having removed its outer layer. No varnish is put on top of finished painting. Warm gamut of the bark provide a perfect natural background for images that come to life as the brush touches its surface. This technique not only requires high-notch professional training but rather is based on innate proness of the author to spiritual insights that are inspired by the native scenery, culture, history, mindset, traditions and the very ambience of this tranquil and mysterious country where every visitor is immersed in soothing pace and charming atmosphere of exceedingly relaxed lifestyle. Polessye is a land of fairy tales interwined with reality and I endeavour to reflect this peculiar world in my paintings. No work of mine replicates itself because I always follow my imagination which travels beyond any conventions and restraints of everyday life. The more you look into each painting the deeper feeling, insight and enjoyment you are likely to get. Feel free to make comments and share your experiences.
