Artist Statement:
I have always been into
painting and drawing, although
I didn't take it seriously as
a career option until I fell
into a part-time Graphic
Design course in 1994.
This led first to a foundation
course in Graphic Design at
East Warwickshire College,
then to a BA(Hons) Visual
Communication (Illustration)
at U.C.E. in Birmingham.
During my degree course I
illustrated several Childrens
books
which can be seen at my
portfolio site
andrewdouse.co.uk along with
other examples of my current
illustration and painting
work.
I use Acrylics and Inks to
produce a range of original
paintings, using quality
acrylic paints and permanent
drawing inks.
My inspiration comes from the
natural world, particularily
water and sky, and I aim to
express the calm power of the
natural world and produce a
relaxed contemplative mood in
the viewer. I feel that my
individual style makes my
paintings instantly
recognizable and they are
increasingly sought after by
private collectors and
corporations.
This artwork is contemporary
in style and original in
execution.
I am now busy painting,
producing greetings cards and
childrens book illustrations.
