My studio mates and my teachers have always
supported my endeavors.
Knox Martin and Bill Scharf and Harry Philbrick and
Phillip Yanewayne taught me so much.

Why Did You Become An Artist It was a natural development like walking, talking, eating, creating. Then I was encouraged
to continue by all of my peers and mentors. This
included Master historians and teachers at MOMA when I taught there. My
grandmother took my mother to the Metropolitan Museum of Art before I was born and it was uphill
from then on with cultural expeditions with my Aunt
Selma,my grandmother Grace and academic encouragement from my mother and father. I was
sick more than average as a child so I did more
indoors: reading, writing, painting, mixed media,a little television. Left alone alot to work out my themes and processes. Great artists in Rockland County (Pousette Dart,Mesibov)in my teens, after Bronx, then on to Cornell University and Risley Residential College for the Arts..then marriage, children, work, then divorce but
art always sustained me.
