I was always drawn to watercolours and the work of Herbie Rose, Eve foster and Susan Shirley impressed me. I had the opportunity to join a watercolour group and I was hooked. |

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
My cousin was an artist and I loved to watch her paint. She was my idol. After i graduated from high school I attended the Jamaica School of art for four years. I specialised in Graphic art and Illustrating. For many years I specialised in watercolour painting and I have participated in group shows all over the island of Jamaica. I have had three solo exhibitions, in which all the works displayed were watercolours.
Now that my children are almost all grown up I am finding more time to paint. Working in oils and mixed media is my current focus although I still work in water colour as some subjects call out for that medium.

| Your Personal Biography |
ART has always been my passion. In school Art was what I wanted to do above all else. I have several careers and they are all Art related.
I am a Portrait Artist. I do quick pencil sketches at craft fairs. When I get commissions I like to use pastels or watercolour for children and oils for adults. I do family portraits as well as family scenes. These scenes are like a genre painting but done of a family, often inspired by holiday pictures.
I am an Illustrator. I have worked for several publishing companies as a free lance Illustrator and book Designer. I also do murals and I specialise in children’s rooms, daycares and doctors offices.
I am an Art Teacher. I taught and operated a Montessori pre school for a few years where art was the main teaching tool. I taught prep. and high school art and also gave private lessons to children and adults. Some of my students have gone on to study Art in college. I firmly believe that everyone is an artist and everyone can learn to draw. I developed my own curriculum and found ways to make even the weakest student proficient by using different methods of instruction and offering a wide variety of activities, so that they would get over their inhibitions and have fun doing it.
I am a Jeweller. I did an elective in jewellery design at the art school and I have been making earrings and bracelets on and off since then. I use string, wire, leather, shells, beach stones and beads to make jewellery. I wear my creations with pride.
I am a Potter. I studied with David Pinto and Norma Harrack and with the Mississauga Potters guild in Canada. Working with clay to be one of the most relaxing things I do and I like hand building as much as wheel work.
I am a Painter. I work in watercolour and oils and acrylics and pastells. I choose my medium acording to the subject matter and my circumstance at the time. I love to work on site but that is not always possible.
