Rafael Sander
Artist Statement
Although I am stylistically
versatile and would consider
myself an oil painter,
impressionist and Plain- Air
painter, Plain-Air painting is
truly my passion since it
allows me to convey my zeal
and appreciation for nature
and its splendor. Even in its
most hostile and ugly form, I
tend to find only the beauty
and perfection in nature.
Thus, working in outdoor
settings, I am able to
experience ease and
contentment while absorbing
the totality of the natural
world and its scenery.
Although there are few words
that can capture the solitude
of winter morning or the
illuminating light of an
evening sunset, through art
and image I can communicate my
aesthetic interpretation of
nature as I see it. My passion
for color, its varieties and
its endless possibilities is a
source of energy and
inspiration. The objective of
much of my work is to capture
the color condition of nature
at a specific time of day or a
specific season. When I begin
my work I mainly focus on the
composition and the general
proportion of my scenery and
the way in which I can
translate it onto the canvas.
