| Biggest Artistic Inspiration |
If you don't get Modern Art, you are not alone. In my paintings I want you to feel and experience different spaces within the work. What you experience should be different, because it will be seen through your eyes. Where your eyes are attracted will be unique to your story. I am trying to create by paint, and texture, layers, that interact with your experiences. My definitions are the space that your eyes move through. In some of my work, I have enhanced edges to confuse and delight the eye. This is intentional to make the visitor explore different areas.
*I noticed that observers of images tend to look at a painting determine it's meaning , then move to the next painting. Some will stop and try to determine the application of the media, then the mind and the eyes move on. I mean to make you stop, explore, then return again, and again. I hope you enjoy the work as much interacting with it as I do creating it. Douglas |

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
I think I have always been an Artist. My wife swears there is something different with my brain. I like to determine how things fit together, then pull them apart and recombinine them with other parts of otherthings. |

| Your Personal Biography |
I grew up all over the world. When I was 12, my parents would take me to the Louvre on weekends. The world has influenced my life. I feel that each of us is capable of world changing actions. Each of us is shaped by our surroundings as we grow, but we should not be limited by them. I have looked at faces on different continents and recognized traits that are the same no matter what the tint of the skin.
I paint every week, my life is not complete unless I do. I have worked with steel, brass, glass, oils, acylics, and stone. I love to create. |
