Your Personal Biography Dave Croad was born and grew up in South Africa, mainly in Johannesburg and in the Kwazulu-Natal midlands, where he developed his love of the beautiful rolling landscapes so characteristic of that area. Although Dave never studied art in any formal institution, his passion has always been drawing and painting. Once only a relaxing hobby, he has developed his talent over the years and is now a full-time professional artist.

Although originally exclusively a watercolourist, Dave now works mainly in oils, with occasional use of other mediums depending on the subject and effects required.

Dave’s subject matter comprises mainly South African landscapes and seascapes, interspersed with some still life and figure studies. His love of colour and composition shines through in his work, as does his passion for South Africa in all its contrasts and diversity, ranging through earthy rustics to sophisticated elegance.
