MONHEGAN-AN INWARD JOURNEY
My serious endeavor as an
artist has revolved around an
inward journey to connect with
the spirit of the land, which
is Monhegan. Monhegan Island
is a tiny lobstering community
seemingly caught in a time
warp of its own choosing.
For the past 25 years, the
island has been the sole focus
of my artistic statements. As
a compulsive creator, the
island appears in many aspects
of my life. The romantic hues
of the watercolors, mask the
hardship of life on an island.
I first saw Monhegan in 1974,
I had never before visited the
ocean. The weeks I spent
following, changed my life
forever.
