The paintings of Barbara de
Mora are imaginary
compositions that tell a
story. Like a memory or a
dream, her artwork shows
places and people that are a
blend of reality and illusion.

Barbara is currently working
on three styles of acrylic
painting. The smaller people
paintings are snap shots, or
moments seen and then created
on canvas. Following the
inspiring works of Stanley
Spencer, and Beryl Cook, these
works have become part of her
“British” statement about art.
The second style is the larger
imaginary landscapes, first
inspired by Canadian
environment, and continued
through her time in New
Zealand and France, and
finally touching the energetic
“Chi” of Dartmoor. Thirdly,
Barbara takes inspiration from
a scorpionic subconscious,
producing rich, intricate
spiritual images of
semi-abstract human forms to
express the wholeness of our
human psyche.

Barbara studied art at several
institutions in Canada and New
Zealand, including: Capilano
Art School and the University
of British Columbia in
Vancouver, Canada; the
University of Quebec in
Rimouski, Canada; the Auckland
Society of Arts, and the
Auckland Outreach Cultural
Centre in New Zealand. She has
participated in over 50 group
exhibitions and ...
