Why Did You Become An Artist I found the shackles of the straight world of TV News to be intolerable. After an early experience with advanced zen meditation, I began to "see" music. The implications were political, (all mediums and all people are 'one') and spiritual: energy and its manifestation exists on a deeper level that informs all mediums. I also felt the call of my heritage, which is musical and artistic, after being trained as a writer! From this paradox emerged Musical and Spiritual Visions, a labor of love and passion.

Your Personal Biography Currently artist in residence at the Bluenote jazz club in NYC, Boobis began his career as a TV journalist, working for the Associated Press, ABC-TV News, NBC-TV News, and Reuters News Service during his 10 year period of activity. After heeding a call to arms in the Arts, he toured with a synth rock band, Kinesis, in the '80's and had a regional hit with Riverside Drive, also becoming a WNEW Prisoner of Rock. At this time he met Art D'Lugoff, impresario of the Village Gate in NYC, beginning a 10 year period of collaboration, which led to an introduction to the neighboring Bluenote Jazz Club. In the interm Boobis became prominent at the Newport Jazz Festival, the Saratoga Jazz Festival, with SPAC, and also had his Nureyev dance piece featured at several events with the Moscow Ballet.
Boobis jazz pieces are owned by Cicely Tyson and Wynton Marsalis, amongst many others, some famous, some profound, and some profane. An issue of Boobis jazz pieces was released by stamp conglomerate IGPC, on the island of St. Vincent in Africa, in 2005. Currently, Boobis is planning a one man show with jazz Public Radio WBGO, an affiliate of National Public Radio.
(NPR) Boobis' Great Grandfather wrote 'Hatikvah,' the national anthem of Israel, and his father was a commercial artist as well as a jazz piano player. Hence, MUSICAL VISIONS.
Enjoy, one and all ...
