Benedicte’s art is representational. Once basic composition and layout has been decided, the reality is not necessary to develop the work. What is more important is the visual and sensual exploration of shapes, texture and movement. The intention is to capture an atmosphere and perception of the subject.

Inspired by nature and
architecture Benedicte’s
artwork has a distinctive
strong style bursting with
colour. She combines many
different materials, media
types and varying techniques
to express form and texture.
Ideas and notes are collected
in sketchbooks and scrapbooks
of photographs taken for
reference on her travels in
Britain and abroad. The work
then takes place in the
studio.
Benedicte studied art with
renowned artist Patrick McCay
Post G Glasgow School of Art,
MFA University of Notre Dame,
currently Dean of Fine Arts at
the New Hampshire Institute of
Art. She then went on to
study Art, Typography &
Graphic Communications at
Reading University, followed
by a course in General Art and
Design at Amersham College. |
