Artist Statement:
my art is a storytelling in
visual form.my images are my
attempt to extricate memories
from my past experiences as a
child.i live in a coastal
community where the daily
toils of the fisher folks are
my sources of inspirations.
beauty sometimes do not
reconcile with certain
aesthetics. but i found it in
exploring realities,there is
beauty in depicting the human
conditions,the other side of
happiness,the negative
feelings as effected by pain
and sufferings but
unspoken.the best art in the
world is not about happiness
but its about depicting what
happen to humanity. ...

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
I took Engineering, but marriage at an early age led me to work prematurely to sustain my family, it came one day when my sister give me a set of oil paints.that was 11 years ago.iam now a full time artist exhibiting and conducting lectures and workshops to my community. |

| Your Personal Biography |
i was trained by my uncle in his studio when i was 10 years old.i was also helping him in his shop mixing paints and doing assistant jobs. It was very easy for me then to shift fulltime when i reach mature age since i was exposed very early.i was 25 years old when i started exhibiting my works. I organized and founded an art group and spearheaded its functions,i become representative of my province to the national artists conventions,i am recognized by the government and become member of National Committee on Visual Arts. I am popular with my watercolors about the islanders way of life, but i can handle all mediums easily,i am also into mixed media, installations and performance art. |
